War is often portrayed through the lens of individual sacrifice, heroism, and triumphs. However, it is crucial to shed light on the untold stories of those who carry the burden of discrimination alongside their service to their country. The documentary "Post 8195: Black Vietnam Veterans Tell Their Stories" does precisely that, honoring the narratives of African American veterans who fought during the Vietnam War. Through the captivating stories of these unsung heroes, this groundbreaking documentary unveils a chapter in history that has remained hidden for far too long.

The Forgotten Warriors of Vietnam

The Vietnam War, which raged from 1955 to 1975, involved the United States supporting South Vietnam in its battle against the communist regime of North Vietnam. Over 2.7 million American soldiers were sent to Vietnam during the conflict, including a significant number of African Americans.

For many Black soldiers, serving in Vietnam meant enduring not only the horrors of war but also the persistent racism and segregation that remained prevalent in the United States. They fought valiantly, shoulder to shoulder with their white comrades, but their contribution to the war effort often went unrecognized and underappreciated.
