My Wild Life In Pro Wrestling, Country Music, and With the Mets
Pro wrestling, country music, and the New York Mets. These three elements have defined my life in some of the wildest ways imaginable. From the roaring crowds at wrestling events to the electrifying energy of country music concerts, and the rollercoaster ride of emotions that come with being a Mets fan, my life has been filled with thrill, passion, and unforgettable experiences.
As a young boy, I was captivated by the larger-than-life characters in the world of professional wrestling. The athleticism, the drama, and the storytelling that unfolded in the ring were unlike anything I had ever seen before. I idolized heroes like The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, and dreamt of one day stepping into that ring myself.
Fast forward a few years, and I found myself living out that dream. I joined a local wrestling promotion and began my training. The physical demands were intense, but the rush of adrenaline I felt whenever I entered that ring made it all worth it. I became known as "The Challenger," and fought my way through countless matches, entertaining fans and living the life I had always imagined. The roaring crowds, the exhilarating moments of victory, and even the painful losses, have all been part of this wild journey in pro wrestling.

But my life is not solely defined by grappling in the ring. I am also a passionate lover of country music. From the heartfelt lyrics to the twang of the guitar, country music speaks to my soul in ways no other genre can. Whether I'm listening to classics like Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline or enjoying the modern sounds of Luke Combs and Kacey Musgraves, country music has a way of transporting me to a place of pure emotion.
I have been fortunate enough to attend some of the most incredible country music concerts, where the atmosphere is electric and the connection between artist and audience is palpable. Singing along to every word, feeling the bass reverberate through my chest, and being surrounded by thousands of fellow country music enthusiasts creates an indescribable sense of unity and joy. Country music has provided the soundtrack to my life, accompanying me through high and low moments, and always reminding me that I am not alone.
And then there are the New York Mets. Being a Mets fan is a constant rollercoaster of emotions. From the highs of victory to the lows of defeat, being a part of the Mets' fanbase means enduring heartbreak, hope, and everything in between. I have witnessed the magic of the 1986 World Series win, the heartache of dramatic losses, and the unyielding loyalty of passionate fans who bleed blue and orange.
Attending Mets games at Citi Field is an experience like no other. The smell of hot dogs wafting through the air, the roar of the crowd when a home run is hit, and the sense of camaraderie among fans create an atmosphere that is truly unique. Cheering on my favorite team, singing along to "Meet the Mets" with thousands of other fans, and feeling the palpable tension during crucial moments of a game is an experience that can't be replicated anywhere else.
My wild life in pro wrestling, country music, and with the Mets has shaped me into the person I am today. Each of these passions has brought me joy, taught me life lessons, and given me a sense of purpose. From the rush of stepping into the wrestling ring to the power of music that moves my soul, and the unwavering dedication to a baseball team, these elements have created the fabric of my existence.
So whether it's delivering a suplex in the wrestling ring, swaying to the rhythm of a country music ballad, or cheering on the Mets at the top of my lungs, I embrace the wild journey that these passions have taken me on. They have given me unforgettable memories, lifelong friendships, and a life filled with excitement and adventure. My wild life truly encompasses the best that pro wrestling, country music, and the Mets have to offer.

A man with three different names ties together the stars of professional wrestling, country music, and the New York Mets.
John Arezzi was a lifelong Mets fan who dreamed of a job in baseball. In 1981, he took a job with the Mets Class A team in North Carolina. But Arezzi had another love: professional wrestling. He ran a fan club for the villainous “Classy” Freddie Blassie as a teenager, then progressed to wrestling photographer, and finally even stepped into the ring himself as John Anthony. Eventually he escaped to pursue a new life in altogether different world: country music. After adopting a new name, John Alexander, his many accomplishments include discovering both Patty Loveless and (decades later) Kelsea Ballerini. But wrestling is tough to shake …
In the 1990s, Arezzi hosted the pioneering radio talk show Pro Wrestling Spotlight. He also ran the first major conventions, assembling a wrestling who’s who to meet with fans. He promoted shows, both at home and abroad, and was a key figure behind importing lucha libre into America.
Mat Memories is Arezzi’s chance to hold the mic, and he holds nothing back — he names names and tells the untold behind-the-scenes stories: from the ring, the stage, and the diamond.
