This 3rd volume on 2-finger picking is about the fusion of index and thumb lead style. Based on volumes I and II the author Sebastian Schroeder explains the combination of both styles, varying plicking patterns according to certain rules and offers different exercises to train this "mixed lead style". As a reward, almost all melodies can be played with only two fingers!
Picking in 3/4-time and 6/8-time is also discussed and new tunings are also introduced. In addition to the practice piece Boil Them Cabbage Down, tablatures for the following tunes are included:
I's the B'y, Oh! Susanna, Old Joe Clark, Buffalo Girls, Wayfaring Stranger, The Tenpenny Bit, Cumberland Gap, Midnight on the Water, Wild Bill Jones, Lost Gander and Omie Wise.
About the author
Sebastian Schroeder is a visual artist, author and musician. As a guitarist in various bands, he discovered the 5-String Banjo in 2005, which awakened a new passion in him: Bluegrass Music. He quickly learned how to pick in the style of Earl Scruggs, but later specialized in oldtime banjo styles. Since 2008 he has been teaching the 5-String Banjo and has performed as a live musician on numerous stages.
