The Call of the Wild

For many, a safari is a lifelong dream, a calling that draws them back to their primal roots. It is an opportunity to break away from the routines and distractions of everyday life and reconnect with the rawness of nature. Although it may take years of planning and saving, the allure of a safari is often too strong to ignore.

So, what is it that pulls us towards this unique adventure? Is it the untamed beauty of the wilderness, the excitement of encountering rare and exotic animals, or the simplicity of living in harmony with the natural world? Whatever the reason, a safari promises to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience that lingers in our memories and touches our souls.

From Discovery to Inner Transformation

Undoubtedly, a safari is an adventure that can have a profound impact on our perspectives and personal growth. It allows us to step out of our comfort zones and embrace the unknown, cultivating a sense of humility and respect for nature's grandeur. The journey through the African wilderness unveils valuable lessons about the delicate balance of life, the interconnectedness of all living beings, and the importance of preserving our planet for future generations.

Moreover, a safari offers an opportunity for self-reflection and introspection. Away from the noise and distractions of modern civilization, we can find solace in the simplicity of life, rediscovering our authentic selves. It is in this solitude that many find their true purpose, reconnecting with what truly matters and finding a sense of belonging.

Returning Home Transformed

As the safari journey comes to an end and we reluctantly bid farewell to the captivating landscapes and wildlife, we carry with us a newfound appreciation for the natural world. The memories of the adventure nurturing our souls for a lifetime and inspiring us to take action to protect the fragile ecosystems we have encountered.

The experience of a safari can ignite a passion for conservation, prompting individuals to become advocates for wildlife and their habitats. Whether it's supporting local community initiatives, raising awareness about the importance of sustainable tourism, or contributing to wildlife preservation organizations, the impact of a safari journey extends far beyond the personal realm.

The journey of a safari is not merely a vacation; it is a transformative odyssey that connects us with the essence of our being and strengthens our bond with the natural world. It awakens our senses, rekindles our adventurous spirit, and ignites a fire within our hearts to protect and preserve the ecosystems that continue to inspire awe and wonder.

So, if you have been longing to embark on a journey that will bring you home to yourself, a safari might just be the answer. Get ready to witness nature at its finest, and allow the African wilderness to embrace you in its raw and untamed beauty.

Safari is a memoir of two journeys. One life-changing journey through Africa and one gut-wrenching journey through the civil litigation system to stop the abuse of my elderly mother. Both safaris changed me. The latter, I vowed to change.

I walked in the footprints of a Bushman across the Kalahari. I climbed the red sand dunes of Namibia and bartered with a Maasai Mara woman, exchanging an American flag patch for homemade jewelry, on a Tanzanian border. Safari documents my six-week camping trip that covered over 6,000 miles from Cape Town, South Africa to Nairobi, Kenya. We traveled in an overland truck, with ten western travelers and a crew of three. This safari bombarded my senses and shattered long-held beliefs. It is a tale of travel that brought me home. Perpetrator vs Victim. Law vs Justice. Life vs Death. Predator vs Prey. These struggles are universal. In one moment I was connected to the vastness of the world. In the next moment, I understood how insignificant I was. Watching the sun set below a foreign arrangement of stars above the desert, I realized both were true. This journey forced me to confront difficult truths about people I loved and unearthed abuse that had been buried by a lifetime of lies.
