Living With Two Smart Rescue Dogs During The Time Of Covid 19
The Covid 19 pandemic has undoubtedly changed our lives in countless ways. From wearing masks to practicing social distancing, we have had to adapt to a new normal. For many people, including myself, this time of uncertainty and isolation has highlighted the importance of companionship. This article explores my experience living with two smart rescue dogs during the Covid 19 pandemic and how they have become true lifesavers during these challenging times.
Meet My Intelligent and Loving Companions
My two rescue dogs, Max and Coco, entered my life just before the pandemic hit. It was a mere stroke of luck that I stumbled upon them, but little did I know that they would bring so much joy and solace during these unprecedented times.
Max, a German Shepherd mix, is highly intelligent and has a knack for learning new tricks. Coco, a Border Collie mix, is incredibly affectionate and always eager to please. Together, they make the perfect team.

The Benefits of Having Pets During the Pandemic
With the world in lockdown and social interactions limited, having pets has proven to be invaluable. Studies have shown that owning pets can help reduce stress, ease anxiety, and combat feelings of loneliness - all of which have become prevalent during the pandemic.
My dogs have provided a routine and purpose to my otherwise monotonous days. Walks in the park have become a cherished highlight, granting us fresh air and a sense of freedom amidst the confinement. Whether it's playing fetch or teaching them new tricks, the bond we share provides endless joy and entertainment.
Unconditional Love and Companionship
One of the most beautiful aspects of pets is their ability to offer unwavering love and companionship. In times of isolation, their presence provides a constant source of comfort and support.
Max and Coco have been my sounding board, offering empathetic ears during moments of frustration and solitude. They have an uncanny ability to sense my emotions and react accordingly, offering solace with affectionate nudges or gentle snuggles.
Training and Mental Stimulation
During the pandemic, it has been crucial to keep our minds sharp and engaged. Training my dogs not only adds a sense of purpose but also acts as mental stimulation for them.
Max's intelligence shines through in our training sessions. From mastering basic commands to learning more complex tricks, he constantly surprises me with his eager-to-learn attitude. Coco, on the other hand, thrives in agility and problem-solving games that challenge her mentally and physically.
Adopt, Don't Shop
My decision to adopt Max and Coco has been one of the best choices I've made in recent years. There are countless rescue dogs out there waiting for their forever homes, and by adopting, we not only save a life but also gain a loyal and loving companion.
Rescue dogs often exhibit resilience and gratitude, appreciating the second chance they have been given. Max and Coco's journey from uncertain beginnings to a loving home is a constant reminder of their indomitable spirit.
The Silver Lining in Times of Uncertainty
While the Covid 19 pandemic has brought many challenges and hardships, the silver lining for me has been the presence of Max and Coco. They are more than just pets; they are valued family members who have brought immense happiness and love during the most challenging times.
Living with them has meant experiencing personal growth and witnessing their unwavering loyalty and resilience. Their ability to adapt to new routines and bring joy in every step has provided a glimmer of light amidst the darkness.
In the face of a global pandemic, the companionship and love of pets have proven to be vital. Max and Coco, my two smart rescue dogs, have been my pillars of strength and solace during these tough times. Their unconditional love, intelligence, and constant companionship have been a source of joy that transcends the challenges of the pandemic.
If you're contemplating adopting a rescue dog, now is the time. Not only will you be giving a loving home to a deserving animal, but you may also find the support and connection you need to navigate the uncertainties of these times.
Remember, stay safe, and find solace in the loving bond you can build with a rescue dog.

After moving from New Jersey and creating a life in North Texas, the author's dogs Molly 17 and Trixie 13 died within a year of each other. Wanting dogs in her life, she found two rescues to complete her small family. Texts record the creating of that family. Other texts record some 2020 news events happening during the same time period.
